For once I'd like to see a different 'instrument face'. Take for example, the zither, something I used to play. I'm sure if you look closely you can see zither face on these kickass ladies below:
Does anyone else have a soft spot for the rare musical instrument? The accordion and bagpipes are badass too; rebellion and anarchy rock out just as poignantly on the ol' pipes or 'cordz. Actually I think 'bagpipe face' is an occupational hazard.
I was pushing a lullaby by Vitas in my last post, this time his grandpa sings while Vitas pulls badass accordion face. Oh Vitas you wild thang.
(Unless you can understand Russian, skip ahead to 2 mins 10 sec.)

You are preachin' to the choir.
But if you put up a picture of BB King, you have to have some music to go with it. :D
BB King at his best
There's always Dizzy Gillespie's famous trumpet face. Singers create some interesting expressions, especially with the "oh" and "oo" vowels.
And I'm a clarinetist with full lips, so I always look quite classic while playing.
Wonderful link bZirk, he earned his title didn't he.
Meg, agreed. Singers pull pretty funny faces. I once saw Shakira pull HUGE guitar face, and she was playing air guitar! Then there's Frasier and Niles playing 'Air Violin'.
Ha!Ha! Frasier and Niles! Love them!
You have a very multicultural musical post here Ragtag.
Is that what a zither is? Whatever it was, it sounded lovely, very other-worldly. And there is Vitas again, kicking it with an accordian. Those Russians sure know how to party!
Phylly unfortunately Il Divo has kicked down my resistance to foreign language songs, and also to high pitched opera. Thus paving the way for strange performers like Vitas who I'd never have listened to twice a few months ago.
The zither from this yt vid is the vietnamese zither, generally they look similar, sorta.
I gotta admit I have a real soft spot for the accordian. As for parties and Russians, it must be something in the vodka! :Þ
Oh NO...have I just discovered "Frasier" fans...my favourite sitcom ever! LOL
Love the bagpipes and the faces that are created.
Pianists can also have "guitar face"...watching Glenn Gould perform is mesmerizing imo
Great post...and if anyone wants starts a Frasier-ganza...let me know!
OMG I LOVE FRASIER CRANE! (and Niles too of course)
"Remember what mom always said: A handshake is as good as a hug"
"Look closer. Is the hat rack moving?"...."Eeewwww!!"
@Ragtag & Phylly...I think you have an idea for a future blogs....
"I really must go. I'm hosting a seminar on multiple personality disorders and it takes me forever to fill out the name tags."
Soft spot for cello. Naturally...
Balalaika and bouzuki acceptable substitutes.
